Getting member phone number
GeoChat SMS only display member name. The Cam RRT would like to know what to do if they want to know the member phone number. Let's say they receive SMS from the group member and want to call to the person for more detail.

Unlist group from listings and searches
I have a group created quite some time ago, and I see the legend "This group will appear in searches and listings" with no apparent way to turn that off.

Option to set zoom level for group locations list
It would be good to click on any location name in the groups locations list and have the google map zoom in to the location position, similar to the placemarks work in Google Earth.

Integrate Packet Radio with GeoChat
The Amateur Radio community has an APRS (Automatic Packet Reporting system) visit http://aprs.fi for a quick view. Basically Map based locations with SMS messages but they fly over the amateur radio frequencies and do not rely on cell towers, and they also get to the internet via gateways. Same idea here. But they also overlay weather information from the thousands of stations out there. So being able to integrate this data with GeoChat would be value added, etc.

Give feedback when the user clicks "Send"
When I click the green Send button (after typing a message into the message box in the sidebar of the Map view), nothing happens. How can I tell if my message was sent? If an error occurred, can I get an error box?

view map by user and date
Currently, you can view a map with messages by group. It would be great if you could also have to option to view it by date and user. E.g. be able to view all messages send to specified group/s on April 5th, 2010

Provide multiple phone # to disambiguate destination group
One serious problem of the current approach to groups is that it's extremely easy to send a message to the wrong group by mistake. This can have serious consequences depending on the privacy and/or security involved in the "leaked" information.
The repro is quite easy. If you belong to group A and just joined group B, your new default group will be B. Now, just replying to an incoming message from group A, without prefixing it with the group name, will cause the message to be sent to group B, rather than A (which you were replying). This is due…

Allow aliases/synonyms for locations
It would be very helpful if we could give locations aliases so that users do not have to remember an exact way to enter the location. For example, if one location is defined as "Secretariat Jct" then aliases could include "Secretariat" and "Secretariat Junction". Even better would be matching by regular expressions!

'Map' view: see address/ location to which the messages are linked to.
When viewing a message on the map in 'map' view i would like to be able to see (or at least have an option to see) the location/ address to which the message is associated. At the moment I can only see the message and since the icon is so large on the map when zoomed out its hard to accurately tell what location the map the message is linked to.

Simple Database Query
Be able to attach a simple spreadsheet database to Geochat that users in the field could then query or perform a search on via SMS. Kind of like Google 411, except a custom simple database. Examples of terms could be peoples names, locations like hospital, command, supply, water (Those could be on the map though)

Enhancing Custom Locations
When you create a new group and start adding custom GPS locations, it always puts you back at some random point in Africa. I would like to be able to have each new point start in a similar location as the last point to really speed the process up!

Custom Base Maps
If I am a teacher and work in a school, can I upload my blueprint to GeoChat and custom tag every room and gathering point. Teachers can be in multiple groups, but in terms of security, if there is an active shooter or emergency, you can view what part of the school a teacher and students are in

1) Creating all the custom locations (building names, numbers etc) under the groups’ properties.
2) If you think that existing base maps aren’t enough (see http://tinyurl.com/yzqp9yn for an example) you can add your own KML layer with a more detailed blueprint. One challenge to keep in mind is buildings with many floors; you can be pragmatic and choose custom location names that reflect that.

Add suport for OpenLayers as map layer
If you don't want to rely on google's satellite imagery alone. OpenLayers can give you support for other imagery sources.

Disable website visibility for a group
Some groups are setup for use for by external applications via the API. I would like to set a flag for a group that won't allow anybody (but the owners) to see the group on the website view when they login.
This allows the applications using the APIs to control their own security and visibility of data.1 vote -
Show phone number on the Request list to join
Currently on the Requests list display only username. Sometime there are multiple user with the same or similar name so can be confusing. Displaying phone number can let the group owner to call up to confirm the identity.

Require users give their location
Ghana/Alex cares so much about location that they want it to be a prompted message or some sort of requirement. For instance, "what is your address?" He also mentioned a big issue is mispelling location so having a village code system would help. We have not identified a specific pilot yet for this feature so I am not sure we want to implement it yet until there is a concrete scenario. (MJ)
