Give feedback when the user clicks "Send"
When I click the green Send button (after typing a message into the message box in the sidebar of the Map view), nothing happens. How can I tell if my message was sent? If an error occurred, can I get an error box?

Enhancing Custom Locations
When you create a new group and start adding custom GPS locations, it always puts you back at some random point in Africa. I would like to be able to have each new point start in a similar location as the last point to really speed the process up!

Integrate Packet Radio with GeoChat
The Amateur Radio community has an APRS (Automatic Packet Reporting system) visit http://aprs.fi for a quick view. Basically Map based locations with SMS messages but they fly over the amateur radio frequencies and do not rely on cell towers, and they also get to the internet via gateways. Same idea here. But they also overlay weather information from the thousands of stations out there. So being able to integrate this data with GeoChat would be value added, etc.

See location in a message
When I include a location in a message, there should be a way to use a command/syntax that makes it so that everyone can see the location I sent within the message for example "/hq/ everything is all quiet" People can see that I am at HQ

Simple Database Query
Be able to attach a simple spreadsheet database to Geochat that users in the field could then query or perform a search on via SMS. Kind of like Google 411, except a custom simple database. Examples of terms could be peoples names, locations like hospital, command, supply, water (Those could be on the map though)

Provide a default map-scale preference setting for group location map
When I switch between groups, my map scale reverts back to world even though it is a pedestrian neighborhood group. This quickly becomes a nuisance time waster.
On the page where a group's location is set, there should be a way to also set the default map scale view for the group. This would be especially useful when, for example, switching between a local group and a parent wide-area group for the whole city.

Add an "email friends to join GeoChat" feature with SMS explanation
Tonight I wanted to form a group with a few friends, and it would be easiest if they got instruction for how to join from their phones in an email - but one that wrote exactly what they needed to do. "You have been invited to join the group SFDOC that is for people in San Francisco to let each other know when they are about to see documentaries for last minute meetups." Send Donna*SFDOC from your phone to the number 44911 to join. I imagine there woudl be a button after you create a gruop saying "send email to…

Meeting Planner
Implement group connect feature which will allow various users to find a suitable meeting point ( mall, park, restaurant, etc depending on user choice) and will suggest the group members detailed plans of travel depending on time of meeting. It will show the real-time location and estimated arrival time ( speed of the user will be taken into account ) once the user embarks on the journey[privacy feature can be added if required]. Every user will be alerted at the appropriate time they should depart , also other will be notified once he has arrived the meeting point.

'Map' view: see address/ location to which the messages are linked to.
When viewing a message on the map in 'map' view i would like to be able to see (or at least have an option to see) the location/ address to which the message is associated. At the moment I can only see the message and since the icon is so large on the map when zoomed out its hard to accurately tell what location the map the message is linked to.

Show phone number on the Request list to join
Currently on the Requests list display only username. Sometime there are multiple user with the same or similar name so can be confusing. Displaying phone number can let the group owner to call up to confirm the identity.

view map by user and date
Currently, you can view a map with messages by group. It would be great if you could also have to option to view it by date and user. E.g. be able to view all messages send to specified group/s on April 5th, 2010

Custom Base Maps
If I am a teacher and work in a school, can I upload my blueprint to GeoChat and custom tag every room and gathering point. Teachers can be in multiple groups, but in terms of security, if there is an active shooter or emergency, you can view what part of the school a teacher and students are in
1 voteAdminedjez (Admin, GeoChat) respondedYou can achieve this today by:
1) Creating all the custom locations (building names, numbers etc) under the groups’ properties.
2) If you think that existing base maps aren’t enough (see http://tinyurl.com/yzqp9yn for an example) you can add your own KML layer with a more detailed blueprint. One challenge to keep in mind is buildings with many floors; you can be pragmatic and choose custom location names that reflect that.

Support Iridium Satellite messages
Iridium networks support sending messages for free from their website, and the phones can send SMS/emails. However these MO messages are formatted in a way that creates problems for GeoChat. Suggest you add ways of supporting these messages to help Iridium users outside of cell coverage stay in touch

Disable website visibility for a group
Some groups are setup for use for by external applications via the API. I would like to set a flag for a group that won't allow anybody (but the owners) to see the group on the website view when they login.
This allows the applications using the APIs to control their own security and visibility of data.1 vote -

Have a way to contact someone who has asked to join a group you own
Right now, if someone asks to join a group I own, I can't contact them and find out who they are, ask them questions - or tell them the purpose of the group and clarify it was a mistake. MJ
